Otterbox Announces "Waterproof" Case, Lifeproof Killer?

With a goal of competing with Lifeproof, a waterproof case for iPhone, Otterbox has announced that they will be releasing a new line of cases for cell phones called the Armor Series. The case is designed to protect the phone from submersion for up to 30 minutes as well as 10 foot drops.

When someone thinks of quality cases for iPhone, Otterbox is the name that comes to mind. In the last year or so, Lifeproof has taken enormous strides to change this mindset and they have done a great job. More and more people are turning to Lifeproof as their choice. With the new Armor Series, Otterbox finally has a viable answer to Lifeproof.

So will this new Armor Series crush Lifeproof? In a short answer? I don't think it will, but this will have a major impact. While Lifeproof has been gaining steam in the mainstream market, Otterbox is already there. The reason people have been leaving Otterbox is because of a lack of a waterproof case. Now that Otterbox has a case for people looking to waterproof their iPhone, why would people choose anything other than Otterbox?

I am in no way saying Lifeproof is an inferior product to Otterbox. In the past, those that wanted a waterproof case had to leave Otterbox for other options such as a Lifeproof. However, now that Otterbox has the Armor Series, people no longer have to jump ship which I believe will have a huge impact on the sales of Lifeproof.

So what case do you prefer? Otterbox, Lifeproof, or something else? If you have a Lifeproof, does the new Otterbox Armor intrigue you at all? Let us now in the comment box below or on our facebook page. Happy Wednesday and Peace Apple Nation!
