New to Jailbreaking? Top 5 Cydia Apps!

A little over a week ago, the iPhone 5 and company was released into the world free of the walled garden Apple has. If you are a jailbreaking regular, you know the best apps to download, whats worth the money, and more importantly, what isn't worth the money. But what if you are not a jailbreaking regular? What if you are new to the community? Well here is a small list of the best tweaks on Cydia that I use on a regular basis!

  • Auxo ($1.99). While I don't recommend spending money on every tweak you see because you can usually find a solid free alternative, Auxo stands out as one of the best tweaks on Cydia. Auxo takes the boring, stale iOS multitasking and adds much needed functionality. This is the way Apple would and should change the multitasking in iOS.

  • Now Playing (Free). This widget gives the user the ability to control the music being played from the notification center. The tweak displays the artist, song name, and album and swipe to the left or right and you get music controls, album art work, and social sharing buttons with Facebook and Twitter. MusicCenter and JukeBox are two paid options that are worth taking a look at as well.

  • BlurriedNCBackground (Free). While this is more of a theme rather than a tweak, this make the notification center look a thousand times better. The tweak replaces the bleak grey background with a blurred image of whatever you were using on your device. You can adjust the tent and blurriness of the background. This is one of my favorite tweaks/themes in Cydia.
    • NCSettings (Free). NCSettings is a simple, small, notification widget that allows you to control settings such as 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, and volume. This is similar to SBSettings, but way more minimalistic. This widget is very Apple like and something I could see them add if they did add settings as a widget.
    • OpenNotifier (Free). Another simple tweak, this tweak adds icons to the status bar that alerts you that you have a notification. You can assign different icons to different apps in the settings. This is a pretty simple and minimalistic tweak. Another favorite of mine.

So these are my favorite apps that I am using on my iPhone 5. There are countless other apps that are amazing, so what are you using? What are your favorite tweaks? Let us know on the Forums page or on our Facebook Page. Also, don't forget to check out the latest podcast, iFive for the iPhone on our podcasts page. Peace Apple Nation!
