Doom For One Apple Device?

Wow, as I got to class this morning, I was greeted with this story blaring on the blogs about how one of my favorite iDevices was leaving the family to be possibly axed. Of course I am sure some of you are already thinking iPod Classic and/or iPod Shuffle as well. If you were thinking that, then you are absolutely right, according to MacRumors and 9to5 Mac, Apple is planning to take the axe to one of its greatest pieces of history and glory. When you think iTunes, the iPod still comes to mind, now lately the iPhone or iPad have slowly started to change that mindset, but still, the iPod is what comes to my mind. I love this device, I own one myself and believe this is a sad day in Apple history if they do decide to do away with the longest actively running line of iPod's. I really hope this is purely a rumor, because if this is not, i will spend the money to get one of the last ones. But if they take the axe to the iPod Classic, then take it out with a bang, tie a band to it like the 30 gig U2 version, maybe pick like The Beatles with a 500 gig on board hard drive space. Look i get it, iCloud, apps, iBooks, all of this is great and not on the iPod Classic. But to the die hard music fan and the die hard Classic fan, then this device will be more missed than any other product killing Apple has done in a long time, including the MacBook this past summer. Anyways, questions, comments? Comment below and dont forget to follow me on twitter @FungusMungus09. Peace!

  1. Its a lame Ipod...... Its like axing the tube television...... You sir are stuck in the early 2000s. Move on!!!!! Ipod Touch and Ipad for the win!!!!! When I think Apple I think going forward not backwards. The macbook was sadder in the sense it was cheaper affordable laptop. The Ipod classic is exactly what it says a CLASSIC. Out with the old in with the NEW!!!!!

  2. Very true, the iPod Classic is in fact older, smaller screen, and lack of functions. But i love it because of the pure size. 250 gigs is nice for person with a large music library. But eventually everything will be streaming from the cloud, or atleast thats the direction it seems, which would in fact kill the only saving thing about the iPod classic. Apple is all about moving forward, which is great and innovative, but it is hard to see products you love disappear, but they always have something better in store. So yeah, i can agree with you on the "out with the old in with the new" statement.

  7. The Zune was a really cool device, with the music pass and everything, competition is always great. And the Zune was a good counterpart to the iPod. Sad to see both products slowly go, but you wouldnt have the iPhone and Ipad without the very first iPod.
